Caper is a community project run by islanders, not a company. We collect as little as possible, and nothing about children, ever.
If you back Caper, we store what you type into the pledge form: your first name, your parish if you choose one, how you'd like to be involved, and your email address if you leave one so we can keep you posted. Your first name and parish appear on the public wall only if you tick the box, and only after a human has approved them. Your email address is never shown publicly and is never passed to anyone else.
If you suggest an event, we store the event details you give us and your email address in case we have questions. Suggestions are reviewed by a person before anything appears on the site.
That's the lot. There are no accounts, no bookings and no payments on Caper.
Nothing about children: no names, ages, photos, schools or attendance. Caper signposts activities run by local organisations; the organisations you book with handle their own information, under their own privacy policies.
Caper sets no advertising or tracking cookies. We use Cloudflare's cookieless analytics to count visits and see which pages are useful; it identifies nobody and stores nothing on your device. The site keeps your saved shortlist in your own browser's storage; it never leaves your device.
We also keep our own anonymous counts of how the site is used: visits, which sections people open, the broad type of listing they click through to, saves, how far down a page people get, rough time on a page, and how many people start and finish the backing form. Every one of these is a simple daily total, like "42 people opened the calendar today". There are no cookies, no identifiers, no record of your device, and no way for us to connect one action to another or to you.
If you search for something and we have nothing to show you, that is genuinely useful for us to know, because it tells us what Caper is missing. We never send or store what you typed. Instead your browser matches it to one of a fixed list of general categories, such as "swimming" or "holiday club", and only that single word is counted. If it matches nothing on the list, it is counted simply as "other". Nothing you type in the search box ever leaves your device.
The site and its small database run on Cloudflare's infrastructure. Pledges and event suggestions are stored there and are accessible only to the project's organiser.
Under the Data Protection (Bailiwick of Guernsey) Law, 2017 you can ask to see what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, including taking your name off the wall. Email hello@caper.gg and it'll be done promptly and without fuss. If you're not happy with how we've handled your information, you can contact the Office of the Data Protection Authority (odpa.gg).
Listings are compiled from each organiser's published pages and checked before listing, but details change: always confirm with the organiser before you book or set off. Caper never runs activities, never takes bookings and never handles money. External links open the organiser's own site, which has its own terms and privacy policy.
